MANUFACTURING DEPARTMENT

1 1/2" Extruder Operator
The extruder operator requires someone with a mechanical aptitude to run a machine in a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will set up, run and monitor the extrusion lines for all standard products, apply print to cables using jet and mechanical printers, complete needed paperwork and maintain clean environment
to prevent contamination.

Extruder experience desired as is a high school degree or GED. Only candidates with manufacturing assembly line work will be considered. Previous manufacturing or machine operating experience required as is a solid work history.

Night shift position available – must be available to work Monday through Thursday 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.

In Process Respooler Operator
The respooler operator requires someone with a mechanical aptitude to run a machine in a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will select cable to be respooled based on priorities set by production, set up and respool all buffered fiber products produced, observe, measure and inspect buffered fiber products and complete all paperwork specific to this job function.

Previous manufacturing or machine operating experience required as is a solid work history and high school degree or GED.

Night shift position available – must be available to work Monday through Thursday 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.

Oil and Gas Market Coordinator and Business Development Representative
The Market Coordinator for the Oil and Gas Market is responsible for enhancing business opportunities within the oil and gas industry.  The Market Coordinator will be responsible for business development activity such as gathering sales and marketing information to develop and maintain a proper strategy for growing business within the specific market.  The Market Coordinator will attend trade shows and work on other efforts that will directly and positively affect sales in the oil and gas industry.

The Market Coordinator will perform general sales duties: lead generation, prospecting, presentations, needs analysis, influencing purchasing decisions, closing sales and servicing customers.  The Market Coordinator will also interface with other departments within Optical Cable Corporation.

The ideal candidate for this position will have demonstrated experience with fiber optic cabling products and connectivity.  Additionally, the candidate will have documented experience and sales with oil and gas customers, in the Houston area and beyond.  Candidates without such experience will not be considered.  Preferably, a candidate will have 5-7 years of related experience.

Candidate will be located in either Houston, TX or Roanoke, VA.  Significant travelrequired (up to 50%).  Competitive salary with bonus potential.


Outside Sales Representative - OH, KY, WV
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced sales representative that has worked in industrial sales with a technical product line preferably in the datacomm industry. Optical Cable Corporation manufactures fiber optic cables and requires someone with at least 5 years of experience in outside sales in addition to industry experience and documented success, particularly with distributors commercial contractors, OEM, and industrial accounts. We build our sales team around individuals that are driven for success. We offer a generous commission based compensation plan with no earnings cap.

The sales person is immediately responsible for uncovering and developing sales opportunities in the territory by contacting current relationships and cultivating new relationships. A strong dedication to customer service and a demonstrated ability to prospect, propose and close a sale is required. The goal is to not only grow business with current clients but to bring in new clients as well.

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for developing the territory, managing and growing current client base; attending trade shows; working with inside sales force and increasing sales in the territory. There are opportunities to work on special projects with other members of the Optical Cable Corporation team. Travel will be required.

Only resumes illustrating a strong familiarity with territory and surrounding areas and a proven sales record in the datacomm industry will be considered.

Due to extensive travel required, the candidate must have a valid driver's license. A motor vehicle report may be requested upon hire. Candidate must also be prepared to travel between up to 75% of the time in order to cover the territory adequately. The remainder of time will be working out of a home office in the designated territory.

Ideal position for someone desiring work in an independent environment and growth in income and experience. Five to seven years in the industry facilitates success.


National Accounts Manager
We are currently recruiting for an experienced National Accounts Manager with at least eight to ten years of professional selling experience in a high-tech or service related industry. A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Sales and Marketing or related field is required. Optical Cable Corporation manufactures fiber optic cables and requires someone with a proven track record of consistently exceeding corporate objectives and quotas, self driven, motivated and results oriented.

The National Accounts Manager will execute sales strategy, initiate contact with existing and potential national account customers, identify their needs and sell to meet and exceed those needs to achieve company goals and objectives. Position responsibilities include developing, presenting and executing yearly sales programs for national accounts, analyzing distribution efforts to increase sales, tracking sales data against financial goals and identifying revenue opportunities. The successful candidate will possess a strong dedication to customer service and a demonstrated ability for problem resolution at both a strategic and function level. Candidate must be prepared for travel up to 60% of the time.

Primary areas of responsibility will include fixed asset accounting, capital expenditure tracking and monthly account analysis and reconciliation. 

This position requires an individual with strong organizational and time management skills with attention to details, self-motivated and capable of working independently. An Associate's Degree in Accountancy or related business degree is required and Five (5) or more years of related experience, including experience in fixed asset accounting and general ledger account reconciliation is preferred.

Tax Manager
The Tax Manager will manage the corporate tax aspects of the company to meet company objectives as well as comply with tax and regulatory authorities.  The company is publicly traded and has both multi-state and international sales.  Tax aspects handled by the manager include income, franchise, excise, sales and use, property, fringe benefit plans, including ERISA plans, annual reports and other business filings.  Also, the manager will assist the payroll department and the CFO in payroll tax research and tax implications of various compensation scenarios.  The position requires a broad range of tax knowledge to meet compliance needs and to provide tax planning, analysis and research on a variety of subjects. 

Responsibilities for planning, analysis and research will center around:
calculating tax rate forecasts, conducting tax exposure analysis;
developing, implementing and executing strategies to utilize tax benefits and minimize effective tax rates; researching tax issues and explain, as necessary, to management and employees;
maintaining updated knowledge of international, multi-state, income tax;
analyze and apply the rules of Section 199.

Compliance responsibilities include:
preparing current and deferred tax provisions in accordance with SFAS 109 for quarterly and annual financial reporting;
overseeing, and maintaining the tax compliance calendar to ensure that information is gathered in a timely fashion so that deadlines are met;
managing and coordinating outsourcing tax return preparation for filings (federal income, state income, franchise tax, ERISA filings).

The Tax Manager will also manage all audits and inquires with government and regulatory authorities.

The candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy or a related field and must have their CPA designation.  Six years of experience in a combination of public and non-public accounting is preferred as is a solid understand of tax related, generally accepted accounting principles and relevant FASB pronouncements.  Strong communication, both written and oral, is required.  High level computer skill and experience with tax software programs required.
