Day Shift

 

Basic Function:

Final inspection of finished products in accordance with policies, procedures, work instructions, customer requirements, military/government and industry standards.

 

Significant Responsibilities:

  1. Performs specific job responsibilities:
  • Inspects products for length, breaks and attenuation using OTDR equipment; test based on priority
  • Ensures product has been manufactured to requirements; identifies defects and problems resulting from the production process
  • Evaluate data to validate compliance or identify deviations from existing standards
  • Ensure all paperwork is accurate and complete
  • Complete detailed documentation and reports of all Inspection activities in accordance with OCC policy and Customer specified requirements; including  Defective Material / Non-conforming Material notices;  Coordinates disposition of affected material
  • Support implementation of data collection projects thru on-line Syspro system

Working Conditions:

Manufacturing area environment.  Will regularly be lifting or moving cable reels up to 50 Lbs. This is a quality position which requires sight sufficient for computer use and significant detail for inspection.  This position also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for telephone contact with employees and management as well as relaying messages accurately.  There are significant computer input/data entry duties that require sufficient manual dexterity for handling small fiber optic products, tools, and instruments. Basic Function: Complete all shipping documents, BOL’s, export documents, assign work load priorities and status shipping sales order completion.

 

Significant Responsibilities:

  • Ensures Shipments are processed to meet production delivery schedules.
  • Prioritize workload for shipping personnel.
  • Tracks status of items to be shipped that are in the Shipping area, Final Quality Control and Packout.

  • Process freight quotes with UPS SCS, XPO and other carriers.
  • Process request for weight, dimensions and shipping cost from Inside Sales team.
  • Co-ordinate with other departments Leads, Supervisors or Managers on issues affecting shipment schedules, workloads and assembly or component quality issues.
  • Assist Supervisor in improving Shipping processes and efficiencies.
  • Assist Shipping clerks with packaging shipments when work load demands.

Basic Function: Coordinate and process various accounting functions for the Company in compliance with accounting guidelines, internal control and financial reporting requirements and regulations applicable to a public company with international and multi-state sales and multiple subsidiaries.

Basic Function: Set-up and maintain industrial machinery.

Maintenance Tech – Days (1494)

Day Shift

Basic Function: Set-up and maintain industrial machinery.

Significant Responsibilities:

• Setting-up and/or assembling new machinery per specifications.
• Observing machines or equipment (for visual and audio signs) to diagnose malfunctions and determine necessary adjustments and/or repairs. Studying blueprints, sketches, machine parts, or specifications in order to determine appropriate repairs. Assembling and test operating machines to verify correction of malfunctions.
• Dismantling machines or equipment to replace defective parts as required.
• Performing scheduled preventive maintenance on machinery. Completing paperwork on parts used and repairs made.

Respooler Operator II In Process – Nights (1484)

Night Shift

 

Basic Function:  Supports the production of fiber optic cable.

 

Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Selects cable to be respooled/striped/cut/printed based on priorities set by production.
  • Sets up and respools all of the standard cable products produced by this company.
  • Prints finished cables and washes off print as required.
  • Stripes in process sub-straights as required.
  • Strips jackets off defective cables, as required.
  • Observes, measures, and inspects finished cables for anomalies and corrects per supervisor instructions.
  • Correctly completes all documentation specific to this job function.
  • Recognizes various defects and problems that arise during production. Assists in solving problems or notifies supervisor if required.
  • Conducts all activities in accordance with safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Dashing fibers for jobs.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education & Experience:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months related experience and/or training preferred.

 

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:  Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate a machine in a production environment.  Demonstrated ability to use tools and measuring devices properly.  Ability to read and follow basic instructions and to understand and implement quality procedures. Math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all documentation.  Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.  Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and help resolve problems.

 

Working Conditions:  While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  Significant inspecting activities require manual dexterity using hands to finger, handle, or feel.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs.  This job requires sight sufficient for significant reading and computer use.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision.  This work also requires an individual with hearing (sufficient for communication with coworkers and awareness of alarms).  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with a disability to perform the essential functions. Basic Function:  Tests and inspects optical fiber and sub-cables at various stages during the production process and evaluates data to determine and maintain the quality and reliability of products by performing the following job responsibilities:

Manufacturing Systems Tech – Days (1469)

Day Shift

Basic Function: The Manufacturing Systems Technician is responsible for managing the manufacturing systems and processes that define technical requirements, manufacturing routes and cost for fiber optic cable products.

Significant Responsibilities:

• Reviews all incoming orders and create bill of materials and technical data on orders to be processed.
• Maintains the Technical Database of any design or process changes.
• Designates the appropriate process specifications and equipment set up for manufacturing jobs
• Follows new product development trial runs to help document special processing instructions in the technical database.
• Designates the appropriate cable print files for all cable part numbers
• Assists Engineering with cable design and special projects
• Reviews system problems, works with manufacturing and sales to determine causes and develop recommended solutions.
• Provide cable costing to sales and maintain and update cable costing spreadsheet

Job Scope:

• Organizational Responsibility – Must comply with company procedures on a daily basis.
• Communication – Must successfully communicate with various departments within the organization daily
• Confidentiality – Handle proprietary product/design information, maintain confidentiality
• Financial Responsibility – Responsible for error-free work to minimize unnecessary expense
• Judgement – Must have good judgment to make sound decisions on production issues and problems.
• Compliance- Must work with engineering to stay compliant with UL, CSA, MSHA, MIL spec ratings.
• Travel (describe type and amount of travel e.g. overnight, out-of-state) – Minimal

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education: Associates degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technology field and demonstrated experience with manufacturing systems.
Experience: 3-5 years applying fundamental concepts and practices
Licensure, Certification and/or Registration:
Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills; must successfully complete orientation and competency validation for position.

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge: Excellent computer skills required with familiarity and skill in software packages such as Microsoft Word, Access Excel
Excellent mechanical aptitude with a comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, theories and practices. Knowledge of fiber optic cable manufacturing technology such as stranding, extruding, material usage and material properties along with product design theory would be beneficial.

Attention to detail and the ability to manage large amounts of data are essential
Ability to plan, layout, and execute complex work programs, functions, and operations.
Ability to understand and implement quality procedures.
Excellent math oral and written communication skills required with the demonstrated ability to express oneself clearly and concisely.

Attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately, and to recognize, record, and help resolve problems.
Able to organize, complete tasks and manage time.

Working Conditions: This partially sedentary job requires sight sufficient for significant computer use and reading. Also, normal work responsibilities call for nominal levels of physically demanding efforts characterized by walking and standing some of the day and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds. This work also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for dealing with external agencies/vendors, interacting with employees, conducting meetings, as well as for significant telephone contact.
