Basic Function: Contributes to increased sales by proactively servicing customer and prospects needs to maximize sales, service satisfaction and loyalty; pursues prospective leads and supports the outside sales force to ensure best-in-class service.

I. Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Proactively find new sales opportunities and manage current opportunities in given region.
  • Process orders, provide quotes and conduct regular follow-up on orders in a proactive, accurate and efficient manner.
  • Increase quote close ratio by effectively following up on outstanding quotes.
  • Conduct needs analysis, identify application and appropriate solution per project. Respond to customer inquiries about product capabilities and provide features and benefits that differentiate OCC from competition.
  • Work in a team environment; coordinate efforts with outside sales team, business development, and marketing to ensure projects are awarded to OCC; regularly and consistently follows up with all parties involved to ensure sales are closed and service provided.

  • Provide timely price quotations for existing and new customers.
  • Provide the sales team (outbound inside sales and outside sales force and sales engineers) with necessary information for effective customer proposals.

Manufacturing Engineer – FOC (1531)

Basic Function: This engineering position will lead the organization in managing equipment, purchasing new equipment, improving plant efficiency and equipment utilization. The engineer will define and manage equipment capabilities and identify new equipment needs for new products and overall process improvements. Independent decision making, project management and leadership in a process development and manufacturing environment will be essential in the success of the engineer in this role. Product Engineer – FOC (1530)

Basic Function: This engineering position is versatile and will be working in both the product and manufacturing development aspects of a fiber optical cable plant. This individual will define product requirements, define equipment requirements and ensure the right equipment, processes and techniques are used to produce good quality products. An engineer in this position will perform tasks and conduct analysis on complex problems that require communication within the organization and with outside resources such as test labs and material suppliers. All levels of engineering work from research and development to industrialization of the product in the plant are expected. Mechanical engineering skills, plastic process equipment understanding and plastics processing knowledge will be necessary.

Significant Responsibilities:

I. Performs specific job responsibilities:
• Manages significant product development projects to meet product performance requirements to the defined timeline.
• Plans, executes and reports product testing through internal or external test facilities
• Ensures the appropriate equipment is used to produce the designated products.
• Coordinates the validation of new product designs during the production of the first article and updates the designs as needed.

Quality Assurance Technician (1525)

Quality Assurance Technician

SUMMARY: The QA Technician is responsible for ensuring that the assigned areas of the Quality Management System (QMS) are effectively controlled and in compliance to the requirements specified in OCC’s QMS, the relevant international standards and other applicable regulations. The QA Technician will be the primary contact/lead for Returned Materials Authorization (RMA), Corrective Action Request (CAR) processing, Preventative Action Request (PAR) processing, and to ensure OCC compliance to daily business practices, ISO requirements and other applicable standards.

I. The Quality Technician will perform any of the following job responsibilities as assigned by the Quality Manager and as necessary to maintaining OCC’s QMS:
• RMA: Accurately conduct timely Failure Mode Analysis of nonconforming product returned through the RMA process. Coordinate and follow up for complaints and returned product.
• Corrective Action: Responsible for determining root cause of nonconformances, development and implementation of irreversible corrective actions and completion of the CAR form. These actions will be performed in a timely fashion and the results will be reported to management.
• Continuous Improvements: Initiation and implementation of Preventive Action Requests to facilitate continuous improvements in all aspects of the business.
• Calibration: Identification of all equipment that requires calibration, assigning equipment numbers, determining calibration frequency and ensuring calibration is completed on schedule.
• Inspection: Assist in visual and mechanical inspection of product at Incoming, In-process and Final quality inspections. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of measurement equipment such as micrometers, rulers and optical measurement equipment.
• Audits: Initiation, facilitation and completion of Internal Audits of the QMS.
• Nonconforming material: Ensure that nonconforming material is identified, controlled and dispositioned to prevent its unintended use or delivery.
• Data Analysis: Collect and evaluate data to determine compliance to goals for key process indicators.
• Work Instructions: Work with other departments to create, verify/validate, issue and maintain Standard Operating Procedures.

Night Shift

 

Basic Function:   Operates extrusion, interlocking armor, filler and rework machines used in the manufacture of world class fiber optic cable.

Significant Responsibilities:

  • Review set up sheets and product codes to determine product to be manufactured, machine adjustments, setup and material requirements; monitor product runs closely by measuring and inspecting against quality standards.
  • Set up and run quality product on extrusion machines as workload and staffing levels require.
  • Print to cables accurately using jet and mechanical printers.
  • Fill, empty and monitor material dryers.
  • Operate the rework line per production requirements for reworks and remakes; washing, reprinting, stripping jackets and armor, respooling cables and other rework tasks.
  • Correctly completes all documentation specific to the job functions.

Product Management Specialist (1489)

Basic Function: Contribute to the development and execution of business plans and product solutions strategies for all product development and marketing activities to ensure the growth and profitability of assigned product lines. Serve as primary liaison between Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales and Marketing.

Significant Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with engineering in product development, design and project management utilizing knowledge of industry standards/applications, competitive products, market trends, and technology roadmaps.

Metrology Technician (1492)

Basic Function:
Perform and document incoming dimensional conformance inspection of high precision machined piece parts utilizing technical drawings, computer solid modeling software, various metrology measurement tools, and statistical analysis. Demonstrates a disciplined quality minded approach for acceptance and rejection of purchased material supplied from vendors for Military and commercial applications. This position supports Supplier Quality Management by performing all incoming First Article Inspections for qualification of goods, including those on the Qualified Products List, from prospective suppliers following the industry standard AS9102 (SAE) format. This position supports Engineering by completing special projects typically through dimensional validation of designs and submits detailed reports showing inputs and outputs of the testing methodology utilized.

Significant Responsibilities:

I. Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Identify dimensional conformance of incoming materials with metrology equipment including coordinate measuring machine (CMM), optical comparators, pin gauges, plug gauges, ring gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools to ensure accuracy and compliance on measurements of all parts.
  • Write CMM programs for new parts utilizing PC-DMIS C++ to ensure dimensional compliance to drawing/specification.
  • Create molds within intricate cavitation of piece parts to measure and verify conformance to drawings.
  • Read and understand information on technical drawings including tolerance of surfaces, pitch diameters, thread types, thread build ups, multi-planed surfaces, and other geometric measurements.
  • Perform incoming inspections for acceptance and rejection of precision machined and purchased material supplied from vendors for applications within the United States Government, Military, and commercial customers in the private sector.
  • Perform AS9102 First Article Inspection on all levels of machining and fabrication stages.
  • Document measurements within the quality modules to provide evidence that incoming products meet all required specifications.
  • Inspect products from post-secondary operations to ensure conformity to drawings, plating build up tolerances and finishes, ability to identify plating finishes including electroless nickel, nickel Teflon, nickel cadmium, black anodizing, zinc nickel, nickel plated brass, and others.
  • Create and complete incoming piece part dimensional check list to document conformity.
  • Identifying nonconforming material, document, segregate in MRB, and alert appropriate interested parties, both internal and external (buyers, planners, customers, accounts payable, etc.) of issues to aid in expediting resolution through Supplier Corrective Action Request, Return Material Authorization, Credit, or Replacement.
  • Perform Failure Mode Analysis when necessary on nonconforming manufactured goods.
  • Aid Engineering in Design Verification through dimensional validation.
  • Assist with internal auditing responsibilities pertinent to the Quality Management System.

This position requires excellent computer skills and experience using Microsoft Windows applications (Word and Excel). Ability to use and navigate within an Enterprise Resource Planning system preferably Syspro. Proficient with computer solid modeling software such as AutoCAD or Auto Desk. Attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately with a sense of urgency at times, and recognize opportunities to help resolve problems. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the demonstrated ability to express oneself clearly and concisely both to internal and external parties. Must be capable of solving technical problems and providing sound solutions. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision. Ability to organize and maintain a metrology lab, complete tasks and manage time appropriately. Ability to read and understand product design drawings, schematics, and technical drawings. An understanding of ANSI/Z and Squeglia Acceptable Quality Levels (AQL) sampling plan (statistical analysis). Ability to work with management to identify tooling needs both pertinent to the position and to embrace Continual Improvement opportunities. Ability to operate CMM machine, optical comparators, and understand Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances.
