Production Planner

Production Planner

 

Basic Function:  Provides production scheduling and materials planning for OCC Asheville.

 

Significant Responsibilities:

 

Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the daily priorities between production, sales, and inventory control.
  • Comply with and maintain corporate lead time objectives.
  • Responsible for maintaining safety stock levels in the MRP system.
  • Assist with setting safety stock levels, as directed by manager.
  • Analyze and identify component, sub-assembly, and finished good stock levels.
  • Generate work orders for the production floor.
  • Review all BOM’s and drawings for accuracy prior to the release to production.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education & Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field or six years’ experience in manufacturing and materials control environment.  Experience working for a design engineering and manufacturing company preferred.

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:  The position requires excellent computer skills and experience using software packages that include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and an ERP system.  Ability to plan, layout, and execute complex work programs, functions, and operations to ensure quality.  Sufficient math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all documentation.  Excellent oral and written communication skills required with the demonstrated ability to express oneself clearly and concisely.  Extensive ability to manage and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and management.  Ability to work in a team environment.  Pays close attention to detail with the ability to plan and schedule material requirements and production accurately, and to recognize, document, and help resolve problems.  Able to organize, complete tasks, and manage time.  Able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.  Able to read and interpret engineer drawings.

 

Working Conditions:  This is a mostly sedentary job which requires vision sufficient for completing quality work and for extensive computer use and keyboarding, and requires hearing sufficient for normal workplace conversation and for extensive, direct and/or telephone contact with customers, suppliers, management staff and employees. The nature of this work and constant personal interactions involved require that an individual possesses significant and persuasive interactive communications skills.  This position may require extended hours from time to time including evenings and weekends as necessary to meet company goals and objectives.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with a disability to perform the essential functions.
