Tooling Inspector – Nights

Monday through Friday 6:00 pm – 3:00 am

Basic Function:  The Tooling Inspector is responsible for dispensing, cleaning, inspecting and tracking tooling used for production of fiber optic cable.


Significant Responsibilities:

Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Maintain complete inventory of tooling accurately; provide adequate labeling
  • Check tooling in and out of inventory; assist in delivering tooling for production team members; track whereabouts of tooling
  • Clean and inspect tolling by hand on specific tooling types
  • Stage tooling for production prior to the start of production shift per the schedule provided by planning
  • Determine tooling’s compliance to all applicable OCC requirements
  • Identify damaged tooling and write work orders for new tooling or repair
  • Operate and maintain automated tooling cleaning machine
  • Polish clean tooling
  • Assist production as needed and time allows

Job Scope:

  • Responsible for providing tooling to meet the needs of production team members in a high volume production environment
  • Communicates regularly with production team members, leads and supervisors to ensure tooling needs are met
  • Low level attention to confidentiality outside of that outlined in the employment agreement
  • Responsible for tracking whereabouts of tooling (company property)
  • Internal compliance for tooling; General accountability


Minimum Qualifications Required:


Education:  High School diploma or GED


Experience:  Six months related experience/training preferred


Other Minimum Qualifications:  Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions; demonstrated ability to use and understand the use of calipers, micrometers and other measurement equipment;  basic ability to use Excel and Word.


Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:  Must have mechanical aptitude with ability to use tools and measuring devices properly; ability to read and follow basic instructions and quality procedures; attention to detail; operate in a high volume, team environment; work independently to complete major job functions.
