Interlocking Armor Operator – WEEKEND
Schedule: Friday – Sunday | 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Job Overview
We are seeking an Interlocking Armor (ILA) Operator to help keep production running efficiently. In this role, you will operate large extruders, ILA, filler, and rework lines as needed to reduce downtime and maintain quality. You will play a key part in producing high-performance fiber optic cable while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and Maintain Equipment

Review set-up sheets and product codes to confirm materials, adjustments, and machine requirements.

Set up and run products on ILA, large extruders (2” and 3”), strander, filler, and rework lines as needed.

Closely monitor production by measuring and inspecting products against quality standards.

Print cables accurately using jet and mechanical printers.

Fill, empty, and monitor material dryers to ensure proper operation.

Run the rework line to complete tasks such as washing, stripping, reprinting, and respooling cables.

Complete all job-specific documentation accurately and on time.

Recognize and report defects or quality issues quickly.

Maintain a clean, organized work area to prevent contamination and support efficiency.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
-
High school diploma or GED required.
-
One to two years of experience operating and troubleshooting machinery preferred.
Skills & Abilities

Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to set up, run, and monitor production machines.

Skilled in using tools and measuring devices accurately.

Able to read and follow instructions and quality procedures.
-
Strong math and handwriting skills for completing documentation.
-
Detail-oriented and capable of solving problems quickly.
-
Excellent teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
-
Forklift operation required.
-
Basic computer and keyboarding skills for use with the Syspro ERP system.
Working Conditions

Regularly stand, walk, and use hands for detailed tasks.

Lift or move up to 50 lbs frequently.

Requires clear vision for reading, computer use, and color identification.

Must be able to hear alarms and communicate effectively with coworkers.

Moderate noise environment with exposure to moving parts and airborne particles.

Safety gear provided for all handling and production activities.
