Business Development Specialist

Basic Function:   Serves as a technical specialist for all cable and connectivity products related to a target market.  Drives increased sales by proactively supporting the efforts to customers in these markets.

Significant Responsibilities:

 Performs specific job responsibilities:

    • Serves as a technical expert to assist our Outside and Inside Sales teams in a target market area through relationships with influencers to include and not limited to: engineers, contractors, installers, integrators, distributors and others that result in selection of products for their respective organization
    • Drives sales and achieves sales goals for assigned markets by conducting individual sales calls as well as joint sales calls with other team members
    • Collaborates and coordinates sales activities for secondary markets or products that fall outside of the assigned area of responsibility
    • Leads training on products and markets to other members of the sales team, OCC partners, end-users and customers as appropriate
    • Works closely with OCC’s marketing and engineering team to coordinate the preparation of training and marketing collateral for training and customer awareness
    • Responsible for product line design and management, suggesting and developing new product concepts, managing product selection and design for specific customer/end-user applications and supporting new product development in collaboration with engineering team

Job Scope:

  • Managerial:  Coordinates sales efforts in designated market segments and provides support to the sales team
  • Communication:  Regularly communicates with other members of the sales team (outside sales, inside sales), engineers and customers.
  • Confidentiality:  Must maintain confidentiality with respect to corporate goals and objectives, product information and customer/sales activity
  • Financial:  Responsibility for operating within the constraints of the Auto and Expense Policy especially by maintaining reasonable expenses.
  • Judgment:  May make independent decisions concerning specific customer demands with consultation from appropriate leaders.
  • Compliance:  Responsible for SOX compliance as it pertains to team processes
  • Travel:  Travel is at least 50% of working time

 

Minimum Qualifications Required: 

Education:  BA/BS or equivalent educational background

Experience:  1-3 years of demonstrated successful sales experience

Licensure, Certification and/or Registration:  RCDD desired

Job Scope:

  • Managerial:  Supervises the Accounts Payable Administrator and Staff Accountant.  Manages the Corporate Accounts Payable function.
  • Communication:  Communicate daily with supervisor and team members to resolve accounts payable, general accounting, and financial reporting issues.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Machine Operator – Large Extruder – Days

3” Extruder Operator (Days)

 

Basic Function:  Sets-up, runs and monitors 3” extrusion equipment used for the manufacture of fiber optic cable by performing the following duties.

  • Reads the set-up sheet and utilizes the automation file to determine product to be manufactured, machine adjustments, and material requirements.
  • Sets up, runs and continually monitors the 3” extrusion line for all products.
  • Observes, measures, and inspects products at various stages of the production process to assure product is being produced per proper automation file.
  • Applies print to cables using jet printers and mechanical printers as required.
  • Correctly completes all paperwork specific to this job function.
  • Cleans equipment to prevent contamination as required.
  • Recognizes various defects and problems that arise during production. Assists in solving problems or notifies supervisor if required. Completes non-conformity paperwork for all defects and problems in products.

Respooler Operator I – Finished Goods – NIGHTS

Basic Function:  Supports the production of fiber optic cable by performing the following job responsibilities.

 Significant Responsibilities:

 Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Selects cable to be re-spooled based on ship date or supervisors priorities.
  • Uses basic math skills to determine correct cut length.
  • Physically observes outer jacket of cable for anomalies while spooling, if anomaly is found notifies Lead or Supervisor.
  • Repair any outer jacket anomalies, that supervisor approves to be repaired.
  • Review non-conformance blue sheet to respool and record any issues observed during the respool process, notifying management when needed.
  • Uses computer or scanner to report reels once they are spooled.
  • Uses wireless RF devices to complete location scans.

Order Fulfillment Specialist

Basic Function:  Provide detail specialized support to order entry and inside sales as required. Perform specific functions required for order entry.  Support internal and external customers as required.

Inventory Clerk

Basic Function:  Pull and issue material from company inventory to support product builds, engineering efforts and support manufacturing processes.  Stock up material from incoming inspection, WIP close out, and customer returns.  Maintain accurate inventory records by entering material movement in computer system and/or scanner.  Investigates and identifies inventory discrepancies.

  • Accepts, sorts, and places raw materials into warehouse stock, ensuring proper count, identification and placement.
  • Ensures all documentation is accurate, in order, and processed timely.
  • Ensure all packages and stock are labeled correctly.
  • Performs cycle counts and records and reports discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Works with planning to ensure that material is moved in a timely manner, enabling production to meet customer demands.
  • Reads work orders or inventory requisition forms to determine inventory to be adjusted.
  • Uses computer or scanner to add and remove material from inventory and assign locations to finished goods inventory.
  • Keeps inventory accurate and neat. Consolidates inventory where possible and works with supervisor to efficiently allocate space.
  • Uses computer to choose inventory to fill stock orders.
  • Prepares stock room and all other inventory for quarterly and yearly physical inventory counts.
  • Utilizes and follows quality policy and operating procedures to ensure the quality and consistency of the job is being performed.
  • Conducts all activities in accordance with the safety procedures and guidelines.

Cabler/Strander Operator – NIGHTS

Nights

Basic Function:  Sets-up, runs, and monitors Cabler/Strander/Rework Line equipment used for the manufacture of fiber optic cable.

Significant Responsibilities:

I. Performs specific job responsibilities in accordance with safety procedures and guidelines:

  • Reads the set-up sheet and utilizes the product code to determine product to be manufactured, machine adjustments, and material requirements.
  • Sets up, runs, and monitors the Planetary Strander for all standard and nonstandard products.
  • Sets up and runs respooling machine located in the cabling area to respool sub cables, fillers and wire.
  • Observes, measures, and inspects products at various stages of the production process to assure product is being produced per proper set-up sheet specifications.
  • Correctly completes all documentation specific to this job function.
  • Cleans equipment to prevent contamination as required.
  • Recognizes various defects and problems that arise during production. Assists in solving problems or notifies supervisor if required.
  • Runs the rework line when the workload at the Strander allows including washing cables with E Cleaner or MEK, printing cables, stripping cables, respooling cables, wire and fillers and using the stripping wheel to strip armor and FRP cables.

Quality Manager

Basic Function:   Plans, implements and manages quality assurance activities in support of the company Quality Management System (QMS) goals and objectives.  This includes, but is not limited to, support and participation in product development activities; manufacturing support including oversight of incoming, in-process and final inspection activities; development, maintenance and reporting of quality metrics including trend analysis, statistical analyses and statistical process control (SPC) as required.  Serves as Safety Coordinator for the facility.  The function also includes root cause analysis in support of failure investigations and the ability to clearly communicate investigation findings and corrective actions to internal and external personnel including vendors, customers and customer quality inspectors.  The function includes direct supervision and training of quality assurance technicians and inspectors, and management of metrology and related standards for calibration.

 

Significant Responsibilities

Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Oversees compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and serves as management representative for harsh environment connectivity products and point of contact for all matters concerning quality management.
  • Maintains appropriate metrics for tracking of key quality indicators using a variety of statistical and analytical tools including charts, graphs and other such tools as may be required to evaluate company performance against stated goals and objectives for management reviews and customer presentations as required.
  • Serves as Safety Coordinator for facility.
  • Works with product development teams to ensure clarity and definition of product requirements, compliance with stated requirements and provides input to the design team concerning manufacturability and process control considerations.
  • Leads the investigation and resolution of quality assurance issues and concerns related to product realization, customer service/support and documentation. Presents findings and corrective actions as required to stake holders including customer personnel.
  • Plans and documents quality related processes and procedures as required to support the QMS.
  • Performs the function of Lead Auditor responsible for planning and scheduling of audits, training and supervising the internal audit staff, and reviewing and documenting audit findings for corrective action, to include MIL-STD-790 audits.
  • Manages personnel in the Quality department. This individual recommends training requirements, has the duty to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectives, and recommends that personnel be hired or removed from the department.  Provides feedback to assigned personnel relative to stated goals and objectives including preparation of performance reviews and, if necessary, administers corrective actions.
  • Maintains the company’s training records and required quality records relating to material and/or process problems and investigation findings / corrective and preventive actions using applicable tools.
  • Institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures as required to initiate, monitor and manage testing performed by any external test facilities.
  • Reviews customer specified Quality Assurance requirements during contract reviews and advises customer service personnel regarding requirements which are not acceptable and ensures compliance with those requirements that are acceptable if the order is received.
  • Evaluates vendors and suppliers to assure quality requirements for purchased parts and materials and well defined, communicated clearly and effectively implemented. Works with vendors and suppliers to establish and manage improvements and corrective actions as necessary when problems are identified.

Minimum Qualifications Required

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical degree with 3-6 years of Quality Assurance experience or 7-10 years Quality Management experience, with a company with significant product development and manufacturing for military and/or federal customers.
  • ISO 9001 and/or military standards quality management and safety/OSHA compliance experience required. Internal/external auditing experience required.
  • Candidate must be skilled in the inspection, metrology, and continuous quality improvement of small, high precision mechanical and/or ceramic components.
  • Experience with MIL-STD-790 audits and OSHA 30 hour safety training preferred.

 

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration:  ASQ lead auditor certification, Registration Accreditation Board (RAB) certification and/or Certified Quality Engineer through American Society for Quality (ASQ) preferred.

 

Essential Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

The position requires excellent computer skills and experience using software packages such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and various data-bases including ERP system(s).  The candidate must possess excellent mechanical aptitude preferably with a comprehensive knowledge of fiber optic cable and connector technology and design and its application to production processes such as termination and test of fiber optic and electrical cable assemblies. Comprehensive knowledge of applicable military and industry standards and qualification requirements for fiber optic cable assemblies or related products is required.  Ability to plan and direct investigations as required to determine root cause and corrective actions for non-conforming product.  Ability to plan, layout, and execute complex work programs, functions, and operations to ensure quality. Ability to understand and implement quality procedures at all levels.  Math skills required along with the ability to correctly complete all documentation.  Excellent oral and written communication skills required with the demonstrated ability to express oneself clearly and concisely.  Extensive ability to supervise and maintain effective relationships with employees and vendors.   Ability to work in a team environment with responsibility for training, motivating, monitoring and evaluating others.  Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately, and to recognize, document, and help resolve problems.  Able to organize, complete tasks and manage time.   Appropriate knowledge of OSHA regulations and requirements.

Maintenance Tech – Nights

Basic Function:   Set-up and maintain industrial machinery.

 

 Significant Responsibilities:

  • Setting-up and/or assembling new machinery per specifications.
  • Observing machines or equipment (for visual and audio signs) to diagnose malfunctions and determine necessary adjustments and/or repairs. Studying blueprints, sketches, machine parts, or specifications in order to determine appropriate repairs.  Assembling and test operating machines to verify correction of malfunctions.
  • Dismantling and reassembling machines or equipment to replace defective parts as required.

Outside Sales Representative – New England

Basic Function:  The Outside Sales Representative performs proactive sales activities for all OCC products and drives increased sales within the designated geographical territory.

 

Significant Responsibilities:

I. Performs specific job responsibilities:

    • Maintains high-level knowledge of the OCC product base and effectively close sales in order to meet territory, regional and corporate-wide goals.
    • Develops and maintains relationships with influencers in the market including: engineers, contractors, installers, integrators, distributors and others that will result in the selection of OCC products by a customer and/or end user.
    • Drives sales proactively as a specialist in OCC enterprise products; supports and engages other members of the sales team:
      1. Involves business development managers, technical sales and engineering in order to effectively and appropriately address customer needs.
      2. Conduct both individual and joint sales calls, deliver presentations and participate in trade shows as appropriate.
      3. Maintains generalist knowledge in all OCC products in all segments in order to provide sales support successfully.
  • Works closely with the Inside Sales Team to provide service and support to customers and to develop a funnel of potential customers.

Job Scope:

  • Managerial:  No direct reports.  Coordinates sales efforts in designated geographical territory.

  • Confidentiality:  Must maintain confidentiality with respect to corporate goals and objectives, product information and customer/sales activity
  • Financial:  Responsibility for operating within the constraints of the Auto and Expense Policy especially by maintaining reasonable expenses.
  • Judgment:  May make independent decisions concerning specific customer’s demands with consultation from other sales resources, as appropriate.
  • Compliance:  Responsible for SOX compliance as it pertains to team processes
  • Travel is at least 50% of working time

 

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education:  Bachelor degree preferred                      

Experience:  3—5 years applying fundamental technical sales concepts and practices

Licensure, Certification and/or Registration: RCDD preferred
