Cabler Operator

 6 AM – 6 PM   Monday – Thursday

Basic Function: 

Sets up, runs, and monitors 36” up to 64” cabling equipment used for the manufacture of fiber optic cable.

Significant Responsibilities:

Performs specific job responsibilities:

• Reads the set-up sheet and utilizes the product code to determine the product to be manufactured, machine adjustments, and material requirements.
• Sets up, runs, and monitors the cabling lines for all standard products.
• Sets up and runs a respooling machine located in the cabling area to respool fillers.
• Observes, measures, and inspects products at various stages of the production process to ensure the product is being produced per proper set-up sheet specifications.
• Correctly completes all documentation specific to this job function.
• Cleans equipment to prevent contamination as required.
• Recognizes various defects and problems that arise during production. Assists in solving problems or notifies supervisor if required.
• Conducts all activities in accordance with safety procedures and guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Inventory Clerk

6 AM – 6 PM   Monday – Thursday

Basic Function:  Pull and issue material from company inventory to support product builds, and engineering efforts and support manufacturing processes.  Stock up material from incoming inspection, WIP close out, and customer returns.  Maintain accurate inventory records by entering material movement in the computer system and/or scanner. Investigate and identify inventory discrepancies.

• • Accepts, sorts, and places raw materials into warehouse stock, ensuring proper count, identification, and placement.
  • Ensures all documentation is accurate, in order, and processed timely.
  • Ensure all packages and stock are labeled correctly.
  • Performs cycle counts and records and reports discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Works with planning to ensure that material is moved in a timely manner, enabling production to meet customer demands.
  • Reads work orders or inventory requisition forms to determine inventory to be adjusted.
  • Uses computer or scanner to add and remove material from inventory and assign locations to finished goods inventory.
  • Keeps inventory accurate and neat. Consolidates inventory where possible and works with supervisor to efficiently allocate space.
  • Uses computer to choose inventory to fill stock orders.
  • Prepares stock room and all other inventory for quarterly and yearly physical inventory counts.
  • Utilizes and follows quality policy and operating procedures to ensure the quality and consistency of the job being performed.

Materials Engineer

8 AM – 5 PM Monday – Friday

Basic Function:  This engineering position will lead the organization in managing the plastic materials and extrusion possessing technology in the plant.  The engineer will lead the engineering department in material selection, qualification and defining an efficient extrusion process.  The engineer will define and manage extruder technology and process equipment requirements.   Independent decision making, project management and leadership in a process development and manufacturing environment will be essential in the success of the engineer in this role.  All levels of engineering work from research and development to industrialization of processes in the plant are expected.  Polymer Science knowledge and the relationship with extrusion process will be necessary.

Significant Responsibilities:

Performs specific job responsibilities:

• Leadership responsibility on the qualification and development of materials and related process technology for fiber optic cable extrusion processes for a variety of materials including PVC, PVDF, Polyethylene, Polyurethane and others.
• Provide material, additive and colorant knowledge to the Product Engineers.
• Research and understand processes related to polymers and additives. Maintain relationships with polymer/color vendors, manufacturing facilities and product engineering.
• Analyze and troubleshoot polymer related performance issues based on product design and processing.
• Design, develop and review with Test and Product Engineer(s) product testing related to finished product performance specifications.
• Interface with manufacturing to ensure materials and processes are efficiently producing products to internal and external requirements.
• Train personnel to understand the interaction of materials and extrusion parameters on the final product performance will be necessary.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Licensure, Certification and/or Registration:

Cabler Operator

6 AM – 6 PM, Monday through Thursday

Basic Function:  Sets up, runs, and monitors 36” up to 64” cabling equipment used for the manufacture of fiber optic cable.

Significant Responsibilities:

 Performs specific job responsibilities:

• Reads the set-up sheet and utilizes the product code to determine the product to be manufactured, machine adjustments, and material requirements.
• Sets up, runs, and monitors the cabling lines for all standard products.
• Sets up and runs a respooling machine located in the cabling area to respool fillers.
• Observes, measures, and inspects products at various stages of the production process to ensure the product is being produced per proper set-up sheet specifications.
• Correctly completes all documentation specific to this job function.
• Cleans equipment to prevent contamination as required.
• Recognizes various defects and problems that arise during production. Assists in solving problems or notifies supervisor if required.
• Conducts all activities in accordance with safety procedures and guidelines.

 Minimum Qualifications Required:

 Education & Experience:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months related experience and/or training preferred.

 Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:  Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate a machine in a production environment.  Demonstrated ability to use tools and measuring devices properly.  Ability to read and follow basic instructions and to understand and implement quality procedures. Math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all documentation.  Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.  Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and help resolve problems.  Ability to operate a forklift.

Working Conditions:  While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  Significant inspecting activities require manual dexterity using hands to finger, handle or feel.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.  This job requires sight for significant reading and computer use.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision.  This work also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for communication with co-workers and alarm awareness.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with a disability to perform the essential functions.

Compensation: $17.30 – $31.05

Shift Differential: Eligible night and weekend shifts receive an additional 10% shift differential.
