Inventory Control Specialist – Asheville

Basic Function:  Receives and issues finished materials.  Prints and pulls shipping documents.  Enters receivers and material movement in computer system.  Investigates inventory discrepancies.

Significant Responsibilities:

  • Performs specific job responsibilities:
    • Ensures all paperwork is accurate, in order, and processed daily.
    • Ensure all packages and stock are labeled correctly.
    • Responsible for preparing orders for shipment according to the shipping documents.
    • Must verify part number and quantity of orders for shipment.
    • Performs daily cycle counts for all stockrooms and reports any major discrepancies to supervisor.
    • Works with planners to ensure that material is moved in a timely manner, enabling production to meet customer demands.
    • Provides backup for Supervisor, Inventory Control as required.
    • Cross-train in additional inventory control, shipping and receiving positions in order to successfully perform those duties on an interim basis and train others.
    • Utilizes and follows quality policy and operating procedures to ensure the quality and consistency of the job is being performed.
    • Conducts all activities in accordance with the safety procedures and guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education & Experience:  High School Diploma or GED required.  Must hold a current forklift certification.  Must have a minimum of 3 years shipping, receiving, and inventory experience at OCC preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  At least 1 year as a lead in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:  Utilize Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.  Must have good analytical and interpersonal skills, including excellent communication skills both written and verbal.  Able to organize, prioritize, complete tasks, and manage time.  Able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.  Must be a self-starter.  Ability to work in a team environment.  Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately.   Good math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all paperwork.  Ability to read and understand work orders, pick lists, sales orders and Bills of Materials.  Ability to lead and/or direct team members.

Working Conditions:  While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  The employee must regularly lift up to 50lbs and move/push a supply cart with approximately 150 lbs. of supplies on it.  The employee must have full range of motion ability, including stretching, bending, and stooping.  This job requires a sighted individual (i.e., vision corrected to 20/20) for significant reading and computer usage.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision.  This work also requires an individual with normal hearing (i.e., hearing corrected to normal ranges).  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Shipping Supervisor #2118

Shipping Supervisor

Basic Function:   Supervise the Shipping group to provide guidance and direction, which will incorporate the overall organizational and business plan.  Responsible for ensuring that all product is shipped in the manner that is specified on the shipping documents and that all product is packaged to prevent damage.

Significant Responsibilities:

  • Performs specific job responsibilities:
    • Assist in developing and implementing shipping control procedures and process improvements.
    • Oversees, coordinates, and participates in the shipping of all scheduled orders.
    • Ensures all required documentation is accurate, in order, and processed daily.
    • Coordinates with ISRs for Freight quotes and Finance hold issues.
    • Notifies Planning and ISRs if an issue arises preventing the shipment of product on time
    • Ensures that all plating work orders are shipped from the building by their start date to ensure timely delivery of material for production.
    • Responsible for reviewing the available Shipping reports to ensure material is expedited to the shipping department in a timely manner and the product is shipped per the shipping schedule.

Job Scope:

  • Managerial:  Supervises a team of shipping employees in several different roles.
  • Communication: Communicate with fellow supervisors and leaders in other departments to understand that the product is on schedule to meet the shipping schedule.
  • Confidentiality:  High level of confidentiality is required regarding corporate initiatives, customer matters, and employee issues. 
  • Financial:  Operate and manage a fiscally responsible team and maintain reasonable expenses. Respond to the finance team’s request for information in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Judgment:  Errors can impact the efficiency of on-time orders, general quality, and employee morale.
  • Compliance:  Responsible for SOX compliance as it pertains to the team’s work processes; responsible for understanding, following, and administering corporate policies.  Compliant with operational procedures.
  • Travel: Minimal to none.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education & Experience:  Associate’s degree with a minimum of 4 years in Shipping management or 7 years experience in Shipping management with a manufacturing company.  Experience with ISO9001 or AS9100 requirements preferred.

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:  The position requires excellent computer skills and experience using software packages that include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and an ERP system.  Ability to plan, layout, and execute complex work programs, functions, and operations to ensure quality.  Good math and handwriting skills are required and the ability to correctly complete all documentation.  Excellent oral and written communication skills are required with the demonstrated ability to express oneself clearly and concisely.  Extensive ability to manage and maintain effective relationships with all levels of employees.  Ability to work in a team environment with responsibility for training, motivating, monitoring, and evaluating others.  Pays close attention to detail with the ability to plan and schedule material requirements and production accurately, and to recognize, document, and help resolve problems.  Able to organize, complete tasks, and manage time.  Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.  Able to read, understand, and communicate work instructions and process procedures.

Working Conditions:  While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and must be reasonably ambulatory. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 lbs. and also maneuver a wheeled cart carrying up to a 150 lb. load. This job requires vision sufficient for completing quality work, reading comprehension, and computer use. This work also requires hearing sufficient for normal workplace conversation and training. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. Respooler Operator II – In Process

 

Basic Function:  Supports the production of fiber optic cable.

Performs specific job responsibilities: 

  • Selects cable to be respooled/striped/cut/printed based on priorities set by production.
  • Sets up and respools all of the standard cable products produced by this company.
  • Prints finished cables and washes off print as required.
  • Stripes in process sub-straights as required.
  • Strips jackets off defective cables, as required.
  • Observes, measures, and inspects finished cables for anomalies and corrects per supervisor instructions.
  • Correctly completes all documentation specific to this job function.
  • Recognizes various defects and problems that arise during production. Assists in solving problems or notifies supervisor if required.
  • Conducts all activities in accordance with safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Dashing fibers for jobs.
