Lead Operator – Nights

Lead Operator – NIGHTS

 

Basic Function:  A working lead that provides daily operational and technical support to manufacturing floor employees.  Monitoring, auditing, troubleshooting, problem solving, correcting deviations, assisting the Process Control Engineering team in all aspects of manufacturing processes technical control.

 

Significant Responsibilities:

 

Ensures Daily Operational and Process Controls are maintained (15% of workload):

  • Equipment setups are verified with operators for accuracy.
  • Verification that the processes are running within specified tolerances.
  • Proactive detection and adjustments to quality issues
  • Process deviations are corrected or adjusted for and root cause analysis is performed using standardized methods with results presented to the BUL and appropriate Pillars and parties.
  • Process audits are conducted routinely with actions performed on deviations.

Quality Non-Conformance (QN) Triage (25% of workload):

  • Assist BUL, technicians, and operators with identification, root cause, and corrective action for QNs found in the process areas.
  • Leads and/or participates in focused improvement teams to attack losses associated with the most problematic QNs as prescribed by the area loss intelligence data.
  • Under the leadership of the Process Control Technician, aids in identifying trends, problem areas, and procedures contributing to non-conformances.

Shop Floor Operational and Technical Support (25% of workload):

  • Serves as the first responder to process, equipment, setup, materials, and material movement issues the operators need assistance or guidance with.
  • Manufacturing audits using standardized tools in the areas of production, tooling condition and setup, operator logs, 5S, Scoreboards, and safety. Results are presented to the BUL and technicians.
  • Assist technician in training activities

Equipment Operations (35% of workload):

  • Operates equipment and executes manufacturing processes as required

 

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education and Experience:  High school diploma. Three years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration:  MT1 Certification is desirable                             

Other Minimum Qualifications:  Effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to be a team member and to lead a team.  Demonstrated history of making positive contributions to an organization.

 

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:  Operate independently with supervision; involve management staff appropriately.  Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.  Maintain interpersonal relationships through appropriate communication, oral and written.  Use math and writing skills to correctly complete all documentation required for reporting. Attention to detail in completing assignments and documentation.  Prioritize workload effectively. 

 

Working Conditions:  Requires an individual with the ability to enter data into a computer. Responsibilities require an individual to be physically mobile to move around the shop floor for extended periods.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  This job requires sight sufficient for significant reading and computer use.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision.  This work also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for the detection of alarms and extensive, direct communication with coworkers.  The noise level in the work environment is moderate.  The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles – appropriate individual safety devices are provided for proper handling.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with a disability to perform the essential functions.
