Basic Function:  Tests and inspects optical fiber and sub-cables at various stages during the production process and evaluates data to determine and maintain the quality and reliability of products by performing the following job responsibilities:

  • Selects optical fiber and sub-cables to be tested based on priorities set by production.
  • Strips optical fiber and sub-cables and uses OTDR testing equipment to test for length, breaks, and attenuation.
  • Observes, measures, and inspects optical fiber and sub-cables for qualities such as wall thickness, diameter, concentricity, print, and color as required per the shop order.
  • Evaluates data to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Completes all inspection paperwork specific to this job function.

Education & Experience:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months of related experience and/or training preferred.

Summary: Sets up, runs, and monitors 1 ¼” extrusion equipment used for the manufacture of fiber optic cable by performing the following job responsibilities.

    • Reads the set-up sheet and utilizes the file name to determine the product to be manufactured, machine adjustments, and material requirements.
    • Sets up, runs, and continuously monitors the 1 ¼” extrusion line for all products.
    • Observes, measures, and inspects products at various stages of the production process to ensure the product is being produced per proper set-up sheet specifications.
    • Accurately completes all documentation specific to this job function.
    • Cleans equipment to prevent contamination as required.
    • Recognizes various defects and problems that arise during production. Assists in solving problems or notifies supervisor if required. Completes non-conformity paperwork for all defects and problems in products.
    • Conducts all activities in accordance with safety procedures and guidelines.

Product Engineer #2052

Product Engineer

Basic Function:  This engineering position is versatile and will be working in both the product and manufacturing development aspects of a fiber optical cable plant.  This individual will define product requirements, define equipment requirements and ensure the right equipment, processes and techniques are used to produce good quality products.  An engineer in this position will perform tasks and conduct analysis on complex problems that require communication within the organization and with outside resources such as test labs and material suppliers.  All levels of engineering work from research and development to industrialization of the product in the plant are expected.  Mechanical engineering skills, plastic process equipment understanding and plastics processing knowledge will be necessary.

 

Significant Responsibilities:

Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Manages significant product development projects to meet product performance requirements to the defined timeline.
  • Plans, executes and reports product testing through internal or external test facilities
  • Ensures the appropriate equipment is used to produce the designated products.
  • Coordinates the validation of new product designs during the production of the first article and updates the designs as needed.
  • Assures product and process quality by defining equipment process capabilities, establishing process standards and coordinates the analysis of product non-conformances.
  • Develops and maintains engineering documentation and systems to ensure standard product configurations are complete, accurate and up to date and include materials, construction and regulatory requirements.
  • Manages the custom product design review, approval and change process including customer approval of designs.
  • Manages the regulatory agency design requirements such as UL, ABS and MSHA
  • Enters data into the ERP system related to Finished Goods part numbers including the proper approval status and availability of the products
  • Supports the cost calculation process and integrates information to support ERP systems.

Other Minimum Qualifications:  A strong technical ability to understand and implement engineering concepts and to perform independently

  • Technical skills are required in order to understand and manage complex product design and material performance concepts to act independently on projects assigned.
  • The position will require an individual with good problem solving skills, communication skills and the ability to deal with people in an effective and professional manner. Will handle regular communications with all levels of sales, production and engineering staff.
  • Excellent computer skills – 50% of the work will be on a computer with a variety of software – Word, Excel, Access and Syspro ERP
  • The individual will need to be able to manage multiple tasks on a tight schedule. Much of the work will be time critical to support both order entry and order release.
  • Strong team player willing to share knowledge and eager to learn new skills as needed

Working Conditions:  Job duties requires engineering work, overnight travel and ambulation in office, testing laboratory, manufacturing plant, customer facility, and on-site installation working environments. Planning Coordinator

 

Basic Function:   Coordinates the daily activities of customer orders to meet production schedule and to maximize on- time deliveries

Significant Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently and accurately assigns bare and/or buffered fibers to production jobs
  • Expedites orders to minimize late deliveries to customers
  • Designates, coordinates and communicates priorities for buffered fiber production to increase efficiency

  • Coordinates with Stock Cage supervisor to maintain supply of stock orders

  • Works with ERP Coordinator to insure fibers are sufficient and accurate for jobs moving to the floor.
  • Advises downstream internal customers (Production, Engineering, Procurement) of deviations or issues with fiber flow to the floor. Recommends courses of action to reduce or eliminate deviations.
  • Intra-departmental cross training as required.

Quality Inspector

Basic Function:  Performs incoming, in-process and finished goods inspections according to work instructions and procedures.  Assist with customer/vendor returns and related data entry.

  • Perform incoming inspections, non-complex first article, finished goods inspections customer returns for compliance to specifications and auditing.
  • Assist with receiving incoming materials and match to purchase orders through utilization of the ERP system.

  • Ensure incoming material meets specific requirements per blueprint.
  • Ensure incoming material is moved to proper location.
  • Ensure that all paperwork and inspection reports are accurate and complete.

  • Ensure materials and return products are in accordance with established tolerance levels for quality and performance.
  • Recognize defects and problems that arise during production of OCC products.
  • Complete Defective Material/Non-conforming Material notices and coordinate disposition of affected material.
  • Roving inspection of work-in-process.

Security & Technical Support Analyst #2057

Security & Technical Support Analyst 

Basic Function:  

This critical IT role combines security operations and technology support for various business areas at OCC.  Security operations includes troubleshooting of security-related issues, recommendation of security best practices and leading projects to improve the company’s security posture.  This role will also engage in supporting virtual servers, desktop systems, personal & networked printers, basic software troubleshooting, basic Network troubleshooting & support, basic Telephone Systems support and other responsibilities as needed.                               

Significant Responsibilities:

Security:

  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of IT security concepts, including common attack vectors, prevention methods, end-point detection and remediation (EDR), Security Incident Event Monitoring (SIEM) etc.
  • Investigates and recommends security Monitoring best practices, nature of alerts and risk assessment.
  • Partners with the Manager of IT Support to present security monitoring summaries, risks and remediation to upper Management.
  • Works with the Cyber Security Compliance Manager to understand the security-monitoring framework and ensure that the right controls are being monitored completely.
  • Recommends security solutions, methods to the Manager of IT Support.
  • In conjunction with the Manager of IT Support, highlight problem areas quickly and effectively, ensuring that OCC Management has the information needed to make effective decisions.
  • Participate in audits or cyber-security testing to provide supporting data as necessary.

Infrastructure Technical Support:

  • Performs administration and support tasks in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Responds to first and second level support requests from business areas via phone call or email.
  • Performs troubleshooting activities and communicates with business partners to solve day-to-day issues.
  • Independently researches issues and/ or collaborates with the IT team to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Monitors the OCC incident management system (Spiceworks) and follows up with assigned personnel to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.

Basic Function:  The Outside Sales Representative performs proactive sales activities for all OCC products and drives increased sales within the designated geographical territory.

Significant Responsibilities:

  • Maintains high-level knowledge of the OCC product base and effectively close sales to meet territory, regional, and corporate-wide goals.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with influencers in the market including engineers, contractors, installers, integrators, distributors, and others that will result in the selection of OCC products by a customer and/or end user.

Large Machine Operator DAYS #2059

Cabler/Strander Operator – DAYS 

Basic Function: Sets up, runs, and monitors Cabler/Strander/Rework Line equipment used for the manufacture of fiber optic cable.

Significant Responsibilities:

Performs specific job responsibilities following safety procedures and guidelines:

  • Reads the set-up sheet and utilizes the product code to determine the product to be manufactured, machine adjustments, and material requirements.
  • Sets up, runs, and monitors the Planetary Strander for all standard and nonstandard products.
  • Sets up and runs a respooling machine located in the cabling area to respool sub cables, fillers, and wire.
  • Observes, measures, and inspects products at various stages of the production process to ensure the product is being produced per proper set-up sheet specifications.
  • Correctly completes all documentation specific to this job function.
  • Cleans equipment to prevent contamination as required.
  • Recognizes various defects and problems that arise during production. Assists in solving problems or notifies supervisor if required.
  • Runs the rework line when the workload at the Strander allows including washing cables with E Cleaner or MEK, printing cables, stripping cables, respooling cables, wire, and fillers, and using the stripping wheel to strip armor and FRP cables.

Schedule: Monday – Thursday | 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM

Job Overview

We are looking for a Cabler Operator to help manufacture high-quality fiber optic cable. In this role, you will set up, run, and monitor cabling equipment ranging from 36” to 64”. You will work hands-on with production machines, ensuring that every product meets specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operate and Monitor Equipment

  • Review set-up sheets and product codes to confirm materials, adjustments, and production details.

  • Set up, run, and monitor cabling lines for all standard products.

  • Operate the respooling machine in the cabling area to respool fillers.

  • Inspect and measure products throughout production to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Maintain Quality and Safety

  • Complete all required documentation accurately and on time.

  • Clean equipment regularly to prevent contamination.

  • Identify defects or issues during production and assist with troubleshooting or notify the supervisor.
