1.5” Extruder Operator

 

Basic Function: Sets up, runs, and monitors 1 ½” extrusion equipment used for the manufacture of fiber optic cable by performing the following job responsibilities.

Significant Responsibilities:

Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Reads the set-up sheet and utilizes the file name to determine the product to be manufactured, print specifications, machine adjustments, material requirements, and/or special customer requirements.
  • Sets up, runs, and continuously monitors the 1 ½” extrusion line for all standard products.
  • Observes, measures, and inspects products at various stages of the production process to ensure the product is being produced per proper set-up sheet specifications.
  • Applies print to cables using jet printers as required.
  • Correctly completes all documentation specific to this job function.
  • Cleans equipment to prevent contamination as required.
  • Recognizes various defects and problems that arise during production.  Assists in solving problems or notifies supervisor if required. Completes non-conformity paperwork for all defects and problems in products.
  • Conducts all activities following safety procedures and guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education & Experience:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months of related experience and/or training preferred.

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:  Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate a machine in a production environment.  Demonstrated ability to use tools and measuring devices properly. Ability to read and follow basic instructions. Ability to understand and implement quality procedures. Math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all documentation.  Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.  Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and help resolve problems.

Working Conditions:  While performing the job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  This job requires sight sufficient for significant reading and computer use.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision.  This work also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for detection of alarms and communication with coworkers.  The noise level in the work environment is moderate.  The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles – appropriate individual safety devices are provided for proper handling.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with a disability to perform the essential functions.

Maintenance Technician #2035

Maintenance Technician

 

Basic Function: 

Maintains production equipment and develops new equipment and fixtures to assist production. Performs maintenance on facilities as needed.

Significant Responsibilities:

Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Maintains corrective/preventative maintenance database for production equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, and repairs electrical and mechanical devices used on production equipment.
  • Assists Manufacturing Engineering with design and fabrication of equipment, controls, and fixtures.
  • Responsible for design and maintenance of test fixtures/equipment used in production.
  • Provide preliminary cost analyses for proposed special engineering projects.
  • Provide concept support, fabrication, and coordination for manufacturing engineering projects.
  • Assist maintenance team members to provide support to all other departments.
  • Perform facility related assignments that may include but not limited to minor plumbing, changing light fixtures, miscellaneous repairs.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education & Experience: 

Two year degree in electronics, mechanics or industrial technology or 3 to 5 years equivalent experience

 

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:  Excellent mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate a variety of machine tools, assemble parts to fabricate or repair machine tools, and proper maintenance of machinery.  Able to read Bills of Materials, Engineering drawings, Technical Specifications, Equipment Technical Publications, Wiring Diagrams Schematics, and ECN’s.  Math and handwriting skills and the ability to correctly complete all documentation.  Computer skills should include Word, Excel, and Email.  Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.  Able to change priorities as directed with ease.  Basic understanding of federal and local safety and hazardous material regulations.  Ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure machines are working properly.   Ability to read and follow complex instructions.  Ability to understand and implement quality procedures.  Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.  Pay close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and help resolve problems.  Must have knowledge of circuit boards, electronic components and equipment.  Prefer candidate to have knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.  Prefer candidate to have knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.

Production Manager #2034

Production Manager

 Basic Function:   Supervises employees, processes, quality, and safety in the manufacturing process.  Accountability for costs, methods, quality and quantity of production, operations and personnel.  Plan and lay out work, assign, instruct, direct and assist employees.  Maintains discipline, morale and personnel relations and adjust primary complaints.  Hires and schedules production employees.  Recommends terminations, transfers, promotion, and wage adjustments.

 Significant Responsibilities

 Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Hire and discharge staff, and resolve personnel grievances.
  • Review processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
  • Reviews production schedule to assure that adequate raw materials are available. Confers with Purchasing as needed to obtain materials.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
  • Plan and establish work schedules and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Manage PFL inventory, cycle counts, adjustments and variances.
  • Develop, implement and prepare reports on work center efficiencies, examining how to maintain and increase levels.

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree or 7 years management experience in a manufacturing environment.
