Maintenance Technician

 

Basic Function: Set up and maintain industrial machinery.

 Significant Responsibilities:

  • Setting-up and/or assembling new machinery per specifications.
  • Observing machines or equipment (for visual and audio signs) to diagnose malfunctions and determine necessary adjustments and/or repairs. Studying blueprints, sketches, machine parts, or specifications to determine appropriate repairs.  Assembling and testing operating machines to verify the correction of malfunctions.
  • Dismantling and reassembling machines or equipment to replace defective parts as required.
  • Performing scheduled preventive maintenance on machinery. Completing paperwork on parts used and repairs made.
  • Maintaining and lubricating machine tools and equipment as required.
  • Conducting all activities following the safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Utilizing and following quality policy and operating procedures to ensure the quality and consistency of the job performance.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Experience:   1-3 years related experience and/or training preferred.   MT1 and/or industrial maintenance certification is desirable.  Military and Technical skills and training will be considered in Lieu of field experience.

                          

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:   Excellent mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate a variety of machine tools, assemble parts to fabricate or repair machine tools, and proper maintenance of machinery.  Ability to read and follow complex instructions, ability to understand and implement quality procedures.  Math and handwriting skills and the ability to complete correctly all documentation.  Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.   Attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and help resolve problems. Ability to operate a forklift and aerial Work platform. Basic Electrical, hydraulic, and Pneumatic skills will be used daily. Machining and fabrication skills are a plus. The ability to create Electrical and Mechanical drawings are also essential skills.

 

Working Conditions:  While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and must be reasonably ambulatory.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.  This job requires sight sufficient for significant reading and computer use.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision.  This work also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for communication with employees, and vendors and awareness of alarms.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with a disability to perform the essential functions.

 

SAFETY:   Work under company protocol regarding safe work practices. Training for machine-specific diagnostics, lock-out, and tag-out Procedures will be provided. Electrical knowledge and training will be required for live diagnostic work on equipment. Proper PPE will be required and provided when required. Proper training will be provided for pre-job Min’s – hot work and related practices. Pre-job minis will be done any time the work is beyond the scope of normal work routines.

Inspector

Basic Function: 

The Inspector is responsible for in-process and/or final inspection of manufactured products in accordance with Optical Cable Corporation policies, procedures, work instructions, customer requirements, and military/government and industry standards.

Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Ensure the product has been manufactured to requirements; identify defects and problems resulting from the production process.
    • Inspectors may be assigned to focus on in-process inspection, identifying defects and problems throughout the production process.
  • Evaluate data to validate compliance or identify deviations from existing standards.
  • Ensure all paperwork is accurate and complete.
  • Complete detailed documentation and reports of all Inspection activities per OCC policy and customer-specified requirements; including defective material /non-conforming material notice

This position requires excellent computer skills and experience using Microsoft Windows applications (Word and Outlook).  Pay close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and help resolve problems.  Excellent oral and written communication skills with the demonstrated ability to express oneself clearly and concisely.  Must be capable of solving technical problems and providing sound solutions.  Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.  Ability to organize, complete tasks, and manage time.  Ability to read and understand product design drawings, schematics, and technical drawings.

Corporate Programs & Contracts Manager #2029

Manager, Corporate Programs & Contracts

 

Basic Function:  This position serves as the highest level team member for reviewing, strategically responding to and designating necessary work groups to manage and execute contract administration for maximum sales.  This includes ensuring the successful delivery of technical performance, adherence to schedule and budgetary constraints, and strict compliance with all applicable internal policies and external regulatory requirements and directives.

                Contracts Administration:

  • Manages the analysis, review, and oversight of government and private contracts; collaborates with and provides guidance to the sales team responsible for this business; ensures leading edge and up to date knowledge of the government contracting climate;
  • Uses FARS and DFARS knowledge to serve as the primary lead ensuring contract requirements are understood and met by the team involved in managing customer relationships; directs others in their work related to the contract and/or corporate program.
  • Works with sales, engineering, operations, HR, IT, and other departments to understand internal processes and policies related to compliance requirements, holds self-responsible for maintaining up-to-date information from these groups.
  • Manages OCC’s formal responses to contractual issues and customer inquiries – either working directly with the customer or involving/advising the lead salesperson as appropriate.
  • Manages OCC’s customer portal access: maintains access, grants access to others as appropriate
  • Uses general business experience to review contracts for private customers.

                Compliance

  • Maintains a constant pulse on OCC compliance practices and processes against the ever-changing contract requirements, especially in federal and defense contracting to avoid or predict non-compliance issues with advance notice.
  • Regularly communicates compliance changes to the leadership and sales team for them to make adjustments.
  • Effectively and efficiently manages the “process” of contract administration.
  • Understand the commonalities amongst contracts and supplier certifications to collect and manage an internal informational “catalog” for OCC
  • Maintains calendars to ensure renewal certifications are proactively completed
  • Regular communication with sales to ensure compliance is managed alongside their goal of growing sales.

Job Scope:

  • Organizational Responsibility: This position is responsible for coordinating and providing direction and feedback to senior staff and functional managers across all facilities concerning technical programs, projects and compliance programs as well as developing or interpreting contractual agreements.  The position requires extensive knowledge across a wide spectrum of corporate functions and activities as well as broad knowledge of specialized external requirements.
  • Communication: This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to facilitate and lead discussions on a variety of technical and management issues.  The role includes writing technical specifications and procedures, contractual agreements, customer correspondence and presentations, and other such documents as are required to promote and achieve corporate goals.
  • Confidentiality: This role often involves dealing with delicate corporate issues that are highly sensitive and confidential.
  • Financial Responsibility: This role is responsible for planning and management of major corporate programs and projects including much of the defense related work, which comprises approximately 20% of the company’s annual revenue.
  • Judgment: The role requires a consistently high level of judgment due to the nature of the role.  Errors in judgment could have a serious impact on critical customer relationships with long-term impact in revenue.
  • Compliance: The role has significant bearing for corporate compliance with federal acquisition regulations (FARs and DFAR’s) as well as other areas including Qualified Products List (QPL) for military products, and ISO-9001 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
  • Travel: The role requires some travel to other OCC facilities, suppliers / test facilities and customer facilities.  Travel times can range from overnight to several weeks duration.

 

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education:  Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Contracts Management, Supply Chain or related fields. Master Degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience preferred. 

Experience:  This role requires a minimum of 4-6 years of experience on the following subject matters:

  • FARS and DFARS
  • CMMC and NIST-800 (in order to provide support to the IT team member managing CMMC compliance)
  • Contracts review, analysis and oversight (government and private)
  • Non-Disclosure Agreements

 

Licensure, Certification and/or Registration:  Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) or other applicable certification preferred                            

Other Minimum Qualifications:  This role requires a high level of proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) as well as expert level proficiency with MS Project.

 

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:  This role requires a high degree of written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to effectively form and lead project teams of highly skilled and strong willed technical and management personnel in a matrix organization.  This role also requires the ability to develop and communicate complex project plans that accurately reflect both requirements and processes and convey project status to stake holders in a clear and succinct manner.  The role also requires the ability to foresee and eliminate or minimize risk and/or develop and implement effective solutions to difficult and complex problems.  This role operates with minimal or no supervision, but must be able to seek out and/or discern useful guidance from various stakeholders.

 

Working Conditions:  This role is predominantly office based and requires extended periods of managing multiple tasks concurrently and being able to accommodate and respond to unplanned high priority tasks at a moment’s notice.  The role requires significant computer work, but also requires work in both production and test laboratory areas as well as customer and supplier facilities, requiring an understanding of basic safety procedures.  Must work well under tight deadlines and changing priorities.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with a disability to perform the essential functions.

Incoming Materials Inspector – DAYS #2030

Incoming Materials Inspector – Quality DAYS

 

Basic Function: The inspection and reporting of incoming raw materials, non-conforming material through the Material Review Board and return of products through customer complaints process.

 

Significant Responsibilities:

 Performs specific job responsibilities:

Assist with receiving incoming materials and customer returned materials by:

  • Matching to purchase orders through utilization of the ERP system
  • Inspecting incoming materials and customer returns for compliance to specifications
  • Maintaining manual and electronic record filing system for incoming materials and returns
  • Sampling/inspection/release or rejection of incoming material
  • Ensure that Incoming piece parts, materials, and 3rdd party processed components conform to OCC specifications and customer specified standards

Ensure materials and return products are in accordance with established tolerance levels for quality and performance by

  • Read and understand standards, inspection plans, and drawings and ensure material compliance
  • Maintain Supplier performance records
  • Complete Defective Material / Non-Conforming Material Notices and coordinate disposition of affected materials
  • Jointly administer Return-to-Supplier process with Procurement and Shipping
  • Perform ISO internal auditor functions as required
  • Utilize OTDR testing equipment to test cable products for length, breaks, and attenuation
  • Testing requirements such as Hi-Pot and continuity of wire.

  • Demonstrated use of calipers, micrometers, and optical test equipment

  • Demonstrated high level of attention to details. Complete detailed documentation and reports of all inspection activities in accordance with OCC policy and customer specified requirements
  • Knowledge of inspection and testing of optical fiber

 

Working Conditions: 

This is a Quality position (manufacturing floor environment) which requires sight sufficient for computer use and significant English reading and writing skills. This position also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for telephone contact with employees and customers (internal and external) as well as relaying messages accurately. There is significant computer input/typing duties that require sufficient manual dexterity for handling small fiber optic products, tools, and instruments. Will regularly be lifting or moving heavy reels and raw material container. Have the ability to regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs.
