Basic FunctionThe primary responsibility of the Quality Coordinator is to provide administrative support to Quality in compliance with ISO 9001:2015. This position will also be required to participate, as needed, in the efforts to prevent, detect, report, correct, or cause to be corrected the production of non-conforming material or product through routine conduct of audits/inspection at all stages of production.

 

Significant Responsibilities:

Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Manages the Customer Return process, including investigation, report, and material disposition.
  • Oversees the Document System per ISO 9001; document management, review schedule, approval routing, training assignment, archival, and filing.
  • Participates in the Internal Audit Program; scheduling and filing.
  • Assists with the Calibration Program.
  • Responds to Customer Requests (BAA, TAA, CoC)
  • Assists with data collection for Management Review and Pillar Boards.
  • Acts as back-up Inspector, as needed.
  • Provide administrative support for any paperwork required by ISO 9001:2015.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND KNOWLEDGE: Good computer skills with the ability to compile, organize, and chart large volumes of data.  Ability to read and follow basic instructions and to implement work programs, functions, and operations.  Ability to understand and implement quality procedures.  Math and handwriting skills are required, and the ability to correctly complete all documentation.  Good oral, written, and interpersonal skills are required, with the ability to give direction, advice, and assistance to others.  Ability to work in a team environment and assist in training, motivating, monitoring, and evaluating others.  Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and to recognize, record, and help solve problems.  Able to organize, complete tasks, and manage time.  Ability to work with minimal supervision.

EDUCATION and Experience:  High School diploma required. Advanced studies/degree in a scientific or technical field preferred. Minimum of two years’ work experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control and/or in a regulated manufacturing environment required. Further experience may be considered in place of education.

Engineering Test Technician

Basic Function: 

Conduct tests, collect data, and maintain product performance test databases. Assist in product development and production testing.

Significant Responsibilities:

 Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Assemble prototypes and sample lots of products for performance testing
  • Set up equipment, conduct experiments, calculate and record the results.
  • Help develop, prototype, and test electrical and electronic equipment and devices

  • Identify product components and assemblies.
  • Determine appropriate tests, sampling, measurements, and procedures.
  • Read and understand product design drawings, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Use precision measurement tools and devices such as Network Analyzers, Time Domain Reflectometers, and high voltage testing equipment.

Quality Technician

 

Basic Function: Assist in maintaining the effectiveness and compliance of the OCC QMS to relevant customer and regulatory (ISO) requirements. Determine compliance of products and purchased materials to all applicable OCC and Customer requirements

 

Significant Responsibilities:

 Performs specific job responsibilities: 

  • Assist with evaluation and testing of  purchased materials at receiving and accept into ERP system
  • Interface with Purchasing, Engineering, and Manufacturing to help resolve nonconformance issues with purchased materials
  • Assist Quality in developing necessary receiving inspection sampling plans, procedures, and work instructions
  • Assist Quality in reviewing supplier certificates of compliance or test reports to determine validity
  • Assist Sales and Manufacturing in investigating customer complaints and analyzing customer returned material
  • Assist Quality in performing calibration of required gauges, quality inspection tools, and test equipment
  • Perform ISO internal auditor functions as required
  • Recognize defects and problems that arise during the production of OCC products
  • Evaluate data to validate compliance or identify deviations from existing standards
  • Complete detailed documentation and reports of all Inspection activities following OCC policy and customer-specified requirements
  • Complete Defective Material / Non-conforming Material notices and coordinate the disposition of affected material
  • Support the implementation of data collection projects
  • Assist Quality in Documentation and Data Control Process
  • Assist Quality in the Corrective and Preventive Action Process
  • Maintain the SCORE Board statistical and trend data

Basic Function:   Serves as a technical specialist for all cable and connectivity products related to a target market.  Drives increased sales by proactively supporting the efforts of customers in these target markets.

  • Serves as a market specialist by understanding OCC products, target markets, competitor products and customer base, market standards, product trends, and developments.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with influencers in the market including engineers, contractors, installers, integrators, distributors, and others that will result in the selection of OCC products by a customer and/or end user.
  • Drives sales proactively as a specialist for the assigned market segment; supports and engages other members of the sales team:
  • Provide market access to the sales team and analyze the best methods to execute sales plans for the markets,

  • Provide training on products and markets to the rest of the sales team, to MDIS participants, to other OCC partners, and to end-users and customers, as appropriate.

Basic Function:  Supports the production of fiber optic cable by performing the following job responsibilities.

Assembler I – #2012

Assembler I

Basic Function:  Responsible for assembly of mechanical and electrical parts.  Operate solder pot, handle cable assembly, and test parts.

Significant Responsibilities:

Performs specific job responsibilities: 

  • Assemble mechanical and electronic parts according to work instructions and assembly drawings.
  • Recognize cosmetic and functional discrepancies in parts and assemblies.
  • Operate solder pot according to work instructions.
  • Read Bills of Materials and Shop Packs to include the router and pick list.
  • Clean the solder pot according to safety and operating procedures.
  • Perform final assembly and tests on cables.
  • Conduct rowing inspection of work in process.
  • Inspect assemblies for conformance to standards.
  • Operate Signature PCB test equipment.
  • Ensure each product passes testing requirements to standards.
  • Load and operate the IDC Insertion Machine.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education & Experience:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.  Must have 12 months of experience in assembly.  Must be able to pass Solder Pot Certification. 

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:  Ability to use small hand tools such as screwdrivers, nut drivers, Allen/Star/Crescent wrenches, microscope, hand crimpers, and height gauge.  Ability to use soldering iron and de-soldering tools.  Ability to read and follow basic instructions.  Good communication skills, both written and oral.  Ability to read and understand assembly drawings and work instructions.  Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.  Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and assist in resolving problems.  Computer knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred. 

Working Conditions:  While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.  The employee must have full range of motion ability, including stretching, bending, and stooping.  This job requires sight sufficient for significant reading.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision.  This work also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for extensive, direct contact with employees.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  • Reads the set-up sheet and utilizes the file name to determine the product to be manufactured, print specifications, machine adjustments, material requirements, and/or special customer requirements.
  • Sets up, runs, and continuously monitors the 1 ½” extrusion line for all standard products.
  • Observes, measures, and inspects products at various stages of the production process to ensure the product is being produced per proper set-up sheet specifications.
  • Applies print to cables using jet printers as required.
  • Correctly completes all documentation specific to this job function.
  • Cleans equipment to prevent contamination as required.
  • Recognizes various defects and problems that arise during production.  Assists in solving problems or notifies supervisor if required. Completes non-conformity paperwork for all defects and problems in products.
  • Conducts all activities following safety procedures and guidelines.
