Assembler I – EC

Basic Function:  Responsible for assembling production parts according to work instructions using hand tools that are manual, electrical, and pneumatic and operating the bagger machine.  Follow standard work procedures and practice safe work habits to ensure a quality product is produced.

• Operate all functions of the bagger machine. Change bags and ribbons and make and conduct the print set-up functions using computer.
• Assemble small parts, sub-assemblies, and kits according to work instructions and assembly drawings.
• Assemble patch panels, jacks, fiber boxes and cabinets according to work instructions, pick lists, and assembly drawings.
• Recognize cosmetic and functional discrepancies on assemblies.
• Read routers and transfer information to P.C.
• Bag first piece and present to quality for verification.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education & Experience:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. 

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:  Ability to use small hand tools such as screwdrivers, nut driver, and pneumatic rivet gun.  Ability to read and comprehend written work instructions, pick lists, and assembly drawings.  Good communication skills, both written and oral.  Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.  Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and assist in resolving problems.  Computer knowledge of Microsoft Word required.

Job Overview

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to support our production team by setting up, maintaining, and repairing industrial machinery. This hands-on position is essential to keeping our equipment running safely and efficiently. You will play a key role in ensuring minimal downtime and consistent product quality.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and Repair Equipment

• Set up and assemble new machinery according to specifications.

Basic Function: Serves as a technical specialist for all cable and connectivity products related to a target market. Drives increased sales by proactively supporting the efforts to customers in these markets.

Basic Function:  Prepares and packages fiber optic cable for shipment, bag/box and package orders per customer specifications.

Summary: Sets up, runs, and monitors 1 ¼” extrusion equipment used for the manufacture of fiber optic cable by performing the following job responsibilities.

Inspector In-Process – NIGHTS

Basic Function:  Tests and inspects optical fiber and sub-cables at various stages during the production process and evaluates data to determine and maintain the quality and reliability of products by performing the following job responsibilities:

• Selects optical fiber and sub-cables to be tested based on priorities set by production.
• Strips optical fiber and sub-cables and uses OTDR testing equipment to test for length, breaks, and attenuation.
• Observes, measures, and inspects optical fiber and sub-cables for qualities such as wall thickness, diameter, concentricity, print, and color as required per the shop order.
• Evaluates data to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
• Completes all inspection paperwork specific to this job function.

Basic Function:  This engineering position is versatile and will be working in both the product and manufacturing development aspects of a fiber optical cable plant.  This individual will define product requirements, define equipment requirements and ensure the right equipment, processes and techniques are used to produce good quality products.  An engineer in this position will perform tasks and conduct analysis on complex problems that require communication within the organization and with outside resources such as test labs and material suppliers.  All levels of engineering work from research and development to industrialization of the product in the plant are expected.  Mechanical engineering skills, plastic process equipment understanding and plastics processing knowledge will be necessary.

Significant Responsibilities:

Performs specific job responsibilities:

• Manages significant product development projects to meet product performance requirements to the defined timeline.
• Plans, executes and reports product testing through internal or external test facilities
• Ensures the appropriate equipment is used to produce the designated products.
• Coordinates the validation of new product designs during the production of the first article and updates the designs as needed.
• Assures product and process quality by defining equipment process capabilities, establishing process standards and coordinates the analysis of product non-conformances.
• Develops and maintains engineering documentation and systems to ensure standard product configurations are complete, accurate and up to date and include materials, construction and regulatory requirements.
• Manages the custom product design review, approval and change process including customer approval of designs.
• Manages the regulatory agency design requirements such as UL, ABS and MSHA
• Enters data into the ERP system related to Finished Goods part numbers including the proper approval status and availability of the products
• Supports the cost calculation process and integrates information to support ERP systems.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education:  BS degree in Engineering or a scientific field from an accredited institution.  Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering are ideal.  Master’s in polymer science desirable.      

Experience:  3+ years experience preferred in a manufacturing environment

Licensure, Certification and/or Registration:                                   

Other Minimum Qualifications:  A strong technical ability to understand and implement engineering concepts and to perform independently

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge: 

• Technical skills are required in order to understand and manage complex product design and material performance concepts to act independently on projects assigned.
• The position will require an individual with good problem solving skills, communication skills and the ability to deal with people in an effective and professional manner. Will handle regular communications with all levels of sales, production and engineering staff.
• Excellent computer skills – 50% of the work will be on a computer with a variety of software – Word, Excel, Access and Syspro ERP
• The individual will need to be able to manage multiple tasks on a tight schedule. Much of the work will be time critical to support both order entry and order release.
• Strong team player willing to share knowledge and eager to learn new skills as needed

Working Conditions:  Job duties requires engineering work, overnight travel and ambulation in office, testing laboratory, manufacturing plant, customer facility, and on-site installation working environments. Quality Inspector

Basic Function:  Performs incoming, in-process and finished goods inspections according to work instructions and procedures.  Assist with customer/vendor returns and related data entry. 

Significant Responsibilities:

Performs specific job responsibilities:

• Perform incoming inspections, non-complex first article, finished goods inspections customer returns for compliance to specifications and auditing.
• Assist with receiving incoming materials and match to purchase orders through utilization of the ERP system.
• Processes customer returns and returns to suppliers and handles all associated paperwork.
• Ensure incoming material meets specific requirements per blueprint.
• Ensure incoming material is moved to proper location.
• Ensure that all paperwork and inspection reports are accurate and complete.
• Maintain manual and electronic record filing system for incoming materials and returns.
• Ensure materials and return products are in accordance with established tolerance levels for quality and performance.
• Recognize defects and problems that arise during production of OCC products.
• Complete Defective Material/Non-conforming Material notices and coordinate disposition of affected material.
• Roving inspection of work-in-process.

Minimum Qualifications Required: 

Education & Experience:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.  Minimum 12 months related experience in Quality Assurance/Control Inspection process. 

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:  Be able to use calipers, micrometers and other measuring tools for verification of product. Intermediate computer knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word and Excel.  Ability to read and follow basic instructions.  Ability to understand and implement quality procedures.  Good communication skills, both written and oral.  Ability to read Bills of Materials, Engineering drawings, and ECN’s.  Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.  Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and assist in resolving problems.

Working Conditions:  While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  The employee must regularly lift up to 15 lbs and move/push a supply cart with approximately 100 lbs of supplies on it.  The employee must have full range of motion ability, including stretching, bending, and stooping.  This job requires sight sufficient for significant reading.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision.  This work also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for extensive, direct contact with employees.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Security & Technical Support Analyst 

Basic Function:  

This critical IT role combines security operations and technology support for various business areas at OCC.  Security operations includes troubleshooting of security-related issues, recommendation of security best practices and leading projects to improve the company’s security posture.  This role will also engage in supporting virtual servers, desktop systems, personal & networked printers, basic software troubleshooting, basic Network troubleshooting & support, basic Telephone Systems support and other responsibilities as needed.                               

Significant Responsibilities:

Security:

• Demonstrates a thorough understanding of IT security concepts, including common attack vectors, prevention methods, end-point detection and remediation (EDR), Security Incident Event Monitoring (SIEM) etc.
• Investigates and recommends security Monitoring best practices, nature of alerts and risk assessment.
• Partners with the Manager of IT Support to present security monitoring summaries, risks and remediation to upper Management.
• Works with the Cyber Security Compliance Manager to understand the security-monitoring framework and ensure that the right controls are being monitored completely.
• Recommends security solutions, methods to the Manager of IT Support.
• In conjunction with the Manager of IT Support, highlight problem areas quickly and effectively, ensuring that OCC Management has the information needed to make effective decisions.
• Participate in audits or cyber-security testing to provide supporting data as necessary.

Infrastructure Technical Support:

• Performs administration and support tasks in a Microsoft Windows environment.
• Responds to first and second level support requests from business areas via phone call or email.
• Performs troubleshooting activities and communicates with business partners to solve day-to-day issues.
• Independently researches issues and/ or collaborates with the IT team to diagnose and resolve issues.
• Monitors the OCC incident management system (Spiceworks) and follows up with assigned personnel to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
• Helps to maintain a centralized source of information/documentation that enables the Help Desk staff and support technicians to recover from technology issues quickly.
• Identifies problem trends and ensures that troubleshooting efforts are completed for recurring issues until permanent solutions are created.
• Works effectively in a small team environment, exchanging ideas freely, providing input and accepting suggestions to work towards a solution.
• Communicates ideas, situations and status clearly and effectively.
• Is comfortable in a fast-paced environment where competing priorities will require effective time management, effective communication and reliable follow-up.
• Participates in an on-call rotation.

• High school diploma or GED with three years’ IT related work experience in a corporate working environment is required.
• Associate degree in a computer science/information technology related field preferred.                          

Other Minimum Qualifications:  Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.  Must have ample amount of knowledge with the Information Technology infrastructure to ensure timely problem resolution and to minimize service interruptions.    Must be capable in handling tactical level tasks and projects.

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:  CompTIA or vendor specific certifications a plus.   Work schedule will be designed to provide a balance of hours-of-responsibility and off time but the ability to be available 24×7 is an essential requirement.

Working Conditions:  This is a partially sedentary job which requires sight sufficient for computer use and hearing sufficient for extensive, direct and/or telephone contact with customers, management and employees.  Responsibilities require an individual to be physically mobile to move around the facility.  The nature of this position and the personal interactions involved require that an individual possess significant and persuasive interactive communications skills.  40+ hour on-site work week with on-call availability required.
