Shipping Team Lead – DALLAS

Basic Function: Complete all shipping documents, BOLs, and export documents, assign workload priorities, and status shipping sales order completion.

Significant Responsibilities:

Performs specific job responsibilities

  • Ensures Shipments are processed to meet production delivery schedules.
  • Prioritize workload for shipping personnel.
  • Tracks status of items to be shipped that are in the Shipping area, Final Quality Control, and Packout.
  • Communicate with the Supervisor or Manager about shipment issues.
  • Ensures all freight shipments have proper documentation BOLs and export documents if required.
  • Ensures all freight is properly routed.
  • Ensures that all shipments are properly packaged.
  • Ensures that all requirements listed on the packing list and picking ticket are met before shipment is processed.
  • Co-ordinates with local courier to schedule pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Process freight quotes with UPS SCS, XPO, and other carriers.
  • Process requests for weight, dimensions, and shipping costs from the Inside Sales team.
  • Co-ordinate with other departments Leads, Supervisors or Managers on issues affecting shipment schedules, workloads and assembly, or component quality issues.
  • Assist the Supervisor in improving Shipping processes and efficiencies.
  • Assist Shipping clerks with packaging shipments when workload demands.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Must have 3 years of shipping experience, Including processing Export documents and Bills of Ladings.

Essential Experience, Skills, Abilities & Knowledge: Utilize Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel. Must have good analytic and interpersonal skills, including excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Able to organize, prioritize, complete tasks, and manage time.  Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Must be a self-starter. Ability to work in a team environment. Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately.  Ability to read and understand work orders, sales orders, and production schedules.

Work Conditions:  While performing this job, the employee is required to walk, stand, and climb safety ladders. The employee must be able to lift up to 35 pounds and move/push the supply cart or pallet jack with approximately 150 pounds of supplies on it. The employee must have a full range of motion ability including stretching, bending, and stooping. Material & Workflow Technician #2045

Material & Workflow Technician

Basic Function:  Load plastic material into industrial dryers, test and deliver dried material to jacketing machines when required. Put together completed order components and transport to the next manufacturing operation.

 Significant Responsibilities:

 Performs specific job responsibilities:

  • Coordinates with planning team to ensure all dried materials needed for the manufacturing team are met. Dries, tests and moves materials in steel drums or bags to extruder lines as needed to ensure all production needs are fulfilled.
  • Clean material dryers based on a schedule or when the materials within the dryer are changed.
  • Assembles completed jobs from OTDR 1 & 2 in process testing stations, verifies all paperwork and promptly delivers to the next operation.
  • Accurately and timely perform cycle counts of inventory to ensure accuracy of perpetual inventory system.
  • Utilizes and follows quality policy and operating procedures to insure the quality and consistency of the job being performed.
  • Intra-Departmental cross-training as required

Performs specific Fiber Inventory responsibilities:

  • Receives fiber inventory from vendors, scans and applies internal ID numbers onto appropriate identification cards. Unpack fibers and prepare them for entry into the fiber storage area.
  • Stores, consolidates, pulls fibers for allocation to purchase orders and stock orders, and delivers fiber to the associated buffer line for buffer manufacturing.
  • Conducts all documentation as it relates to removing and adding fiber inventory, linking fibers to ERP jobs, fiber inventory accuracy, and all documentation required for the job function.

Job Scope:

  • Maintain the dryers ensuring the proper plastic material is being used.
  • Checking for the correct components when kitting orders and moving to the next operation.
  • Responsible for tactical fiber inventory processes. Receiving, issuing, return to stock, and inventory level verification.
  • May be required to communicate with all departments (engineering, sales, quality, manufacturing, and operations) to ensure accuracy of work orders and the information contained therein.
  • Treats all OCC work orders and the data contained therein as confidential and proprietary to OCC.
  • Financial Responsibility/Judgement – recognize the impact of cost to the company for scrap created as a result of incorrect work orders or for production down time due to inaccurate or untimely work orders.
  • Accountable for compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Travel – minimal.

 

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education & Experience:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Other Minimum Qualifications:  Possess good organizational skills with the ability to properly prioritize tasks.

 Basic Function

Sets up, runs, and monitors 36” up to 64” cabling equipment used for the manufacture of fiber optic cable.

  • Reads the set-up sheet and utilizes the product code to determine the product to be manufactured, machine adjustments, and material requirements.
  • Sets up, runs, and monitors the cabling lines for all standard products.

Configuration Control Specialist

Basic Function:  Provides key functional support and task responsibility reporting to the Configuration Manager in an active and robust Configuration Management environment.  This includes, but is not limited to, following written procedures and recognized Configuration Management principles in ERP system input of part numbers and related Bills of Material, document control practices, release management, and change control management.  Additionally supports the Order Fulfillment as required in the sales order processing function.

  • Support the activities of the Change Review Board (CRB) by preparing review packages, keeping meeting notes, logging activity, following-up on issues, reporting status and other tasks as required and assigned.
  • In response to approved Engineering Change Orders and other inputs, perform accurate and timely data entry and maintenance of Configuration Management related ERP system data such as Bills of Material, Parts Master files including descriptions and relevant Parts Master coding, part/document revision status, and linking to controlled documents.
  • Maintain controlled documents in strict compliance with Corporate policies, regulations, and standards ensuring that up-to-date versions of relevant documents are available for use, that documents are legible and readily identifiable, and that obsolete documents are prevented from unintended use.
  • Support audits (internal, external, 3rd party) in order to verify that regulatory and quality requirements are being met.
  • Provide superior customer service and communication to all customers, both internal and external.
  • Monitor requests for service from internal customers and prioritize to ensure that requests are completed in a timely manner.
  • Recognize opportunities for documentation and configuration process improvements and participate in the development and implementation of improvement solutions.
  • Assist Configuration Manager and Order Fulfillment personnel as required to provide backup support and to meet peak workload requirements.

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:  Operate independently but with some daily direction from the Manager, Configuration Management.  Maintain interpersonal relationships through appropriate and concise communication, oral and written.  Use math and writing skills to correctly complete all documentation required for team reporting and compliance obligations.  Understand, follow and administer policies, especially those related to quality and compliance.  Attend to detail in completing assignments and documentation.  Prioritize workload effectively.  Strong knowledge of MS Office; customer service oriented while also being assertive, self-sufficient, and able to multi-task in a variety of projects.

Working Conditions:  This is a partially sedentary job which requires sight sufficient for computer use and hearing sufficient for extensive, direct and/or telephone contact with customers, management and employees.  Responsibilities require an individual to be physically mobile to move around the facility.  The nature of this position and the personal interactions involved require that an individual possess significant and persuasive interactive communications skills.  40+ hour on-site work week with on-call availability required. Sitting for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components, occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings, lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects such as computers and peripherals.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with a disability to perform the essential functions.
